Design Decisions

  • Version 2 updated the headers from KF128 (2.54 mm) to KF301 (5.00 mm). This was done to make wires easier to install and for safety on the 240VAC headers.
  • Version 2 removed the use of all strapping pins on the ESP32-C3. The strapping pins are GPIO9, GPIO8 and GPIO2. On version 1 GPIO9 was pulling low and entering the serial bootloader. Leaving GPIO9 unconnected will use an internal pull-up resistor.
  • The G3MB-202P solid state relay works by turning on an LED which acts as an optocoupler. The component has a built-in 440R resistor, which means the status LED for each channel can simply be put in series.
  • A status light is added which can be controlled by the ESPHome interface. This is added for debugging.
