Public Warning System - Warning Messages - Reception of CMAS notification via SIB12

Feature Description

ETSI 103.720 v1.2.1 defines the support for a Public Warning System (PWS). Section 5.15.3.3 deals with sending alerts via the E-UTRAN Uu downlink in System Information Block (SIB) broadcast messages. SIB12 contains the Common Mobile Alert Services (CMAS) notification for PWS.

Details of the SIB12 message are specified in clauses 5.2.2.19 and 6.3.1 of ETSI TS 136 331.

Details about the UE functionality for 5G Broadcast PWS receivers can be found in ETSI 103.720 Section 5.15.5

Implementation

The goal of this ticket is to implement the reception of and processing of SIB12 messages.

Open questions

• Can we use a COTS UE for the reception?
• Should we implement support for the reception in the MBMS-Modem?
