Describe the bug
When I submit my Mastodon handle, I only get a 500 Internal Server Error response.

Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error and was unable to complete your request. Either the server is overloaded or there is an error in the application.

The same happens if I try a different handle on the same instance c.im. If I try a handle on a different instance, like mastodon.social, I'm redirected to the instance's authentication page, which I'm guessing is what's expected to happen when you enter an account that's not your own.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Go to https://mastodon-gender-distribution.up.railway.app
  2. Enter a Mastodon handle from the c.im instance
  3. Click the Log in button
  4. See error

Expected behavior
I expect to see a summary of gender distribution information for accounts I'm connecting to.

Desktop (please complete the following information):

  • OS: macOS
  • Browser: Safari
  • Version: 18.3

Additional context
When I use the browser's Back button to return to the app, the input is uneditable and the button is empty, I have to reload the page.

c.im is running the latest Mastodon release, v4.3.3, but mastodon.social runs code that's not yet in a release.
