hi! It would be nice to be able to view contacts (read-only) without logging in, and you have to be logged in to add and change contacts.

Hi, this makes sense to me. It would probably need to be controlled by a configuration setting so that the default behaviour is to have everything behind authentication. I would welcome a PR with this functionality.
