JustYeetIt

A pauseable, file-transfer utility without the need to setup servers by using Hamachi instead. For Windows only.

How do I use this? (Transfer files to a friend)

  1. Get justyettit.exe
  2. Get LogMeInHamachi
  3. Create a LogMeInHamachi network and have your friend join
  4. Hamachi host should copy his IPv4 address and paste it into the "Host" section, then press enter
  5. Friend reciving file should copy the host IPv4 address and paste it into the "Hosts" section, then press enter
  6. Host should put file to be transfered in the now appeared /files folder
  7. Friend should click on the host's IP in the hosts section to see all host files in the /files folder. Click on the IP again to refresh
  8. Friend should click on the files to be downloaded and they will be added to his queue

But why not use 'x' instead??

FTP Servers FTP servers require port forwarding and technical knowledge for the host. Additionally, pausing the download is not possible.

Filezilla Filezilla makes setting up an FTP server easier, but still requires port forwarding on the part of the host.

Windows Network Sharing Windows Network Sharing does not support pausing downloads. Additionally, it requires you to create a windows account on your PC for the person who wishes to download the file.

Torrent Software While torrents were created exactly for this purpose, they still require technical knowledge and have a stigma attached to them. If you and your friends know how to operate private torrents, I suggest their use over this program.

Google Drive Google Drive places a 15GB cap on downloads/day and requires two transfers instead of one. First uploading to Drive, then downloading from Drive. A direct transfer is significantly faster in the use case of file transfer to a friend.

Why should I care about pausing downloads? Well, isn't it nice knowing you can restart your PC and even turn it off whenever you want? My PC is near my bed and I cannot fall asleep easily when it's on. If there's a huge file transfer to be had that cannot be finished in one day, pausing is required.

Why Hamachi?

This program is made to not require port forwarding and I don't know UPnP. It only works when computers are on the same network. If you have alternative ways to put your friends on the same network as you, go ahead and use your method. I found Hamchi works best for me.

Why Windows?

I'm only one guy making a side-project. If you pull request and promise it works on x os, I would not be against adding your contribution.
