Variant attributes not importing correctly

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Create new database and import Confor chars, items (containing variants) & 
specs files from another database.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Items marked as variants in the 'Items' file should import as variants in the 
new dataset, but instead are being imported as ordinary items.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
open DElta 1.0 (?) on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
