This is a question about relocating the MayaUsd plugin install.
I work in Linux CentOS 7.9. There is a desire from a studio point-of-view to install Maya in a different location (other than /usr/autodesk). The Maya Linux installer doesn't allow users to change the install location and I know Autodesk doesn't recommended to do so, alerting that some features may not work properly.
As a test, I installed Maya 2023 normally, under /usr/autodesk and then moved to another location. After changing the "modules" files so Bifrost, Arnold, vnn, substance and USD are pointing to the new location, everything worked fine, except the MayaUsd plugin. I tested Bifrost and Arnold and made sure they were been loaded from the new install location. Maya itself works fine as well. Unfortunately, MayaUsd is the only part that is not "relocatable". The plugin doesn't load.
Running some "ldd" I noticed that the RunPaths are all relative, so, in theory, MayaUsd should be relocatable.
If the answer is that it cannot be done, ok. I was just wondering since everything else worked fine.
Aside from changing the module files (modules/maya/2023/*.mod), is there anything else that I could be missing, like setting some environment variables (USD_LOCATION, etc)?
