List of No Issue Hosters?

Hello,

Is there a list of hosters (hosting companies) that are known to work with the ActivityPub plugin without any issues? IE: Not requiring the .webfinger file to be manually created to work.

I'm concerned that some of my issues are due to hoster limitations and am having issues troubleshooting/testing behavior.

As a quick follow-up @pfefferle

I just spoke with IONOS support to confirm that both Shared Hosting (https://www.ionos.com/hosting/web-hosting) and WordPress Hosting (https://www.ionos.com/hosting/wordpress-hosting) both supported ActivityPub via support for the custom .well-known routes and they said that only WordPress Hosting supports it, not the Shared Hosting.

They seemed to understand the question and checked with the other team to be sure (I was speaking with the WordPress team and they checked with the Shared Hosting team). They said something along the lines that the way the Shared Hosting was setup it didn't support the custom .well-known routes but WordPress Hosting did.

Not sure if things have changed or if perhaps the tech misunderstood/didn't know. Just thought you should know.

Follow-Up 2:

I was able to chat with Shared Hosting Support and got the following answer:

"
Unfortunately, our Shared Hosting plans do not support custom .well-known routes, including those used by the ActivityPub WordPress plugin. Our Shared Hosting plans use a shared configuration for the .well-known directory, which is not customizable by individual users. This means that you will not be able to configure custom .well-known routes for your WordPress site.
"

So it looks like only the WordPress Hosting services with IONOS support the ActivityPub plugin,

Oh that's cool! Hence why the wordpress hosting rocks! lol

Well other than the wiki needing to be updated to reflect WordPress Hosting only for IONOS we are all good. I'm just waiting for them to finish setting up my account and then I'll start the transfer and hopefully will have everything working out of the box as intended.

PS: I confirmed that neither SiteGround's Shared Hosting nor WordPress Hosting supports custom .well-known routes. Just in case someone follows up wondering the same thing I did.
