bridge to kubernetes does not resolve my database (I dont think the internal dns works)

I have a dotnet core api application that is trying to execute sql queries within my postgres which is also running inside the kubernetes cluster .. but whenever I try to access the db I get an "Microsoft.EntityFrameworkCore.Database.Connection: Error: An error occurred using the connection to database" -- I was thinking bridge to kubernetes will allow my pod to run inside the same cluster .. that way all the internal dns services are local to my debug session .. is that not the case ?
