Hi, this is the maintainer of @staticmanlab, a public Staticman instance for GitLab. Have you thought of adding reCAPTCHA to your site? #56#60 are spam comments.

Hi VincentTam,

Sorry, I have had an incredibly busy summer. I am planning on updating my blog and Staticman in the next week. I will try out the captcha solution and then attempt to update Staticman so that it supports both v2 and v3 of the API. I can see that there has been quite a lot of activity so I will have some catching up to do.

I am really happy with Staticman and would like to contribute more as soon as I have some time.

Cheers!

Trevor

I opened this issue before I read this forum thread, in which the author claimed that moving form action URL to JS would avoid the spam problem. Provided that that's true, the need for reCAPTCHA would be nullified.

Thanks, I will look into that option as well. A simple blacklist of spammy words might be enough to block most of the spam. So far all the spam I receive share a small number of spammy words that I would not expect to encounter from an actual reader posting on my blog.
