Stupid question .. what exactly is an admin template ... #23

In my mind, admin means "doing" things, but this template (and others like it) don't appear to have any functionality at all ... no adding users, no adding/removing/editing stuff ... just a dashboard with some charts. So can you let me know please why it's called an "admin" template? Thank you very much
