I just showed our prototype to someone who gets ML and didn't understand that we are enlarging a single pixel value.

It's too bad I didn't get to showing a set of features bouncing down the tree. Is there a way to tie in this element better or explain it using Wesleys' rad tutorial hovers?

It seems possible to me that could also make the larger square grow out of the pixel rather than just appearing. Is that along the lines of what you were thinking?

I haven't had any good ideas myself yet, other than adding more text about them in Wesley's hover boxes.

Yours could work, or we could try to print the pixel value over the square, making its link to the tree more clear.

What about this:

  • you click (instead of hover) on a pixel
  • the pixel grows into the square, or even just appears
  • the pixel value is overlaid on top
  • the square and number remain visible so you can cruise around the tree and see how it relates to the decision tree.
