Current Sites export function actually exports the counter rather than the sites.
I'd like to have the option to export/import sites under Device Tracking/Sites and leave the current sites export on the "Sites view tab".

I think this one is also a reasonable one since it's really useful to be able to export everything you've done and import it to a different installation. Not sure though how the imported devices from cacti will affect installations without them. Maybe validating that they actually exist and if not prompt the user to create them as mactrack only devices?

I just realized that there is no way to import on the site page, but there is a way to export. What would you like to see exported actually?

  • Sites
  • Devices (MacTrack)
  • Devices (Cacti)
  • Device Types

That would make sense. I'm not to certain about other things.

  • You can already import and export Device Types, under Device Types menu.

  • You can already import existing Cacti devices into Mactrack. I'm not sure about the use of exporting Mactrack devices when they have been imported from Cacti unless it keeps the relationship to the cacti device as well.

  • So I think that leave us with import and export "Sites".
Current export function under Sites menu only exports COUNTERS and that's fine. I guess some people could make use of those numbers for one thing or another. But for management purposes, eg: installing, re-installing mactrack Import/Export Sites and its definition would be helpful.

Does that make sense?
