I noticed that Chromecast is supported in the feature list and called "rudimentary" .. before we go down that road I think FCast might support the open source community better and perhaps will still give us what we want from Chromecast ?
Use Case
FCast support will enable immediate support for easily casting Tempo streaming music to Linux, Android, and Android TV .. Linux being Linux, this could be anything from a raspberry pi with some hardwired speakers running FCast, or just a nice Desktop. I'd say the implementations are far more open than what Chromecast might offer.
Additional context
This idea came to me when I came upon the difficulties of whole home audio, how complex it is, and how dated most of the applications are that can accomplish it, not to mention the pairing frustrations of bluetooth on devices at scale. Chromecast is simple and works to easily cast media to a network device, FCast seems like the perfect replacement, and I think it fits the open source community and the subsonic users better. The protocol seems to have good documentation with open source examples. I use GrayJay and FCast together on my LAN all the time and works great for video streaming, why not music too ? ;)
PS; Amazing work on Tempo! I love the project and use it all the time with my Navidrome server <3

Summary
Now that Google is discontinuing Chromecast devices I figured this might be a great time to jump ship to something that is open source and readily available to developers? Right now the only FCast client is GrayJay which is made by the same developer; Futo .. but I think the marriage of Subsonic with FCast seems like a match made in the Libre heavens! the FCast app is available on Gitlab, Google Play, and Amazon Appstore
