Hrm. Do you have a volume called "Nix Store"? Is it encrypted? Is it mounted now?

Weirdly, this sorted itself after trying two more times. Brand new M3 - maybe I got the sudo password wrong a couple times? If that would produce this error, I'd bet on PEBKAC
