Drexel Smart House Code of Conduct

Purpose

A major goal of Drexel Smart House is to be inclusive to a large number of contributors with varied and diverse backgrounds. We are committed to providing a friendly, safe, and welcoming environment for all.

This Code of Conduct outlines expectations for all those who participate in our community, administrator responsibilities, and the consequences for unacceptable behavior.

We invite all those who participate in Drexel Smart House to help us create safe and positive experiences for everyone.

Community Standards

Examples of behavior that contribute to a positive environment include:

  • Using welcoming and inclusive language
  • Being respectful of differing viewpoints and experiences
  • Gracefully accepting constructive criticism
  • Focusing on what is best for the community
  • Showing empathy towards other community members

Examples of unacceptable behavior by community members include:

  • Violence, threats of violence or violent language directed against another person.
  • Sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist or otherwise discriminatory jokes and language.
  • Posting or displaying sexually explicit or violent material.
  • Personal insults, particularly those related to gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, or disability.
  • Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behavior.

Administrator Responsibilities

Drexel Smart House administrators are responsible for clarifying the standards of acceptable behavior and are expected to take appropriate and fair corrective action in response to any instances of unacceptable behavior.

Drexel Smart House administrators have the right and responsibility to remove, edit, or reject contributions that are not aligned to this Code of Conduct, or to ban temporarily or permanently any contributors for behaviors that they deem inappropriate, threatening, offensive, or harmful.

Scope

This Code of Conduct applies both within club spaces and in public spaces when an individual is representing the club. Examples of representing the club include using an official club email address, posting via an official social media account, or acting as an appointed representative at an event. Representation of the club may be further defined and clarified by Drexel Smart House administrators.

Enforcement

Instances of abusive, harassing, or otherwise unacceptable behavior may be reported by contacting the Drexel Smart House administrators at [EMAIL ADDRESS]. All complaints will be reviewed and investigated and will result in a response that is deemed necessary and appropriate to the circumstances. The administrators are obligated to maintain confidentiality with regard to the reporter of an incident.

Administrators who do not follow or enforce the Code of Conduct in good faith may face temporary or permanent repurcussions as determined by other members of the club's leadership.
