How do we make available licensed software ?

Two different use cases are:

  • authorised users have access to the source code. This was investigated by nathan, and can be done using a mirror. The folder containing the source code might have permissions for a package group.
  • authorised users can use the package but cannot build it.
    - Can you restrict module loading to a certain user group ?
    - Can you do manually by changing the permission in the opt folder ?
    - Can spack set the permissions for installation folders ?

There is an option for installing packages under a certain user in spack. Demo this by adding a licence request package to the CSE environment ( i.e. CASTEP )
