Hello this is my first Pidgin plugin and I have a question(s) about setting it up right in Windows.

I added the 2 .dlls mentioned in README into the right folders, downloaded the ZIP, and put the folder that was in the ZIP into the Pidgin\Plugins folder.

Pidgin gave me the Yahoo 2016 option in the pulldown (no red Y icon after the Yahoo 2016 option). It did take my user name and password and had me sign into messenger.yahoo from my browser, but I can not send IMs, and when I try to add or message a user it shows the right user name in the Account: area, but displays a 30-digit random character string above it (all in caps).

Thanks in advance for the help, and for a Plugin definitely needed. Thanks. Sincerely,

Don't worry about the zip. The fact that you can see the 'Yahoo 2016' option means that you've installed the plugin correctly. The 30-character ID is the correct ID for buddies as of the new yahoo, since buddies can be added by phone number, email address or the old yahoo username - the 30-character base32 code is the 'unified' way of talking to buddies.

When you send a message does it show up in messenger.yahoo.com? There might also be an issue that you need to reconnect to the account to be able to send a message to a buddy after you've added them. Can you try setting your Pidgin status to Offline then Available again and see if that lets you send messages?

Otherwise, if none of that works, can you attach a debug log (from the buddy list, Help->Debug Window) as you try to send a message and attach the error messages that you get.

OK it seems to have cleared up. I was able to send message through both Pidgin and the browser.

There is an issue where buddies deleted off the list reappear after logging back in: Should I have the ability to remove buddies from Pidgin? If yes, I'll wait a few days to see if it corrects itself on the Yahoo side before opening a ticket.

Lastly, and I know this is trivial since you've told me the plugin is setup correctly: Is there a fix so the Yahoo icon appears beside the Yahoo 2016 and user names?

Thanks again, I'm looking forwards to trying out the messenger since this will get me to use yahoo messenger again. Sincerely,
