Good question. So far, IRIS and FDSN seem to have been going with DOIs, but since persistent identifiers tend to self-identify, I don't see why it can't be labelled a Persistent Identifier (PID).

Maybe I missed it, but it seems like we should have DOIs appear in the JSON output for each data center as well as for the network data they serve.
