Hi folks,

the applications are in. I'll send the over to you in a minute.

Other than that, I prepared an initial schedule for the groups to follow, and it would be fantastic to get feedback, suggestions and criticism.

Also, the initial plan is to have weekly check ins with the groups, since this part of the project is a bit short. I was wondering if anyone would like to volunteer to "mentor" one or two groups? My idea is that the calls are ~30min long and you can arrange it with the group in the way it fits your schedule best.

Thanks!

Hey Andre,

can you remind me what the time scale of the program was (how many weeks)? Do you plan a final event? In general I like the structure but there is a lot of information for week 1 but for the following weeks it gets a bit thinner (fewer examples). But I guess we can help you out with that and add more information!

Hi Alex,

the idea is to run this from now, till mid July. Since the applicants are already experienced with building/developing tools, my tinking was that we "push harder" on week 1, so that everyone is already up to speed with the documentation and setting up of the repos. This way here would be less issues later with getting people to write down what they done, rearranging things in the proper format, etc...

You can definetly add more information!

Hi! Same as @vektorious in general, I agree with the ideas 100%, I only think it's a bit too much in the start, e.g.: repos are easy but researching previous projects + dev plan in one week sounds very demanding.

So if it's an 8 weeks program, maybe we can think of weeks 1 and 2 as preliminar, 5 weeks for building, 1 week for closing, sharing, etc. What do you think about the following?

Products/week:

  • Week 1: GitHub repo with readme.md & research of similar available projects*
  • Week 2: Dev plan with bill of materials + order parts
  • Week 3: Contributing.md, CoC, updates on dev
  • Weeks 4 to 7: updates on dev
  • Week 8: closing, sharing

*We can tell everyone in advance that documentation will be done through GitHub so they can learn if needed before hand

Also, I think we should provide templates for the things we want from them, as we talked some time ago, so they don't waste time on looking how to do it, and we can also compare between teams afterwards...

Hi! I like this plan @thessaly , I think we can change the current document to incorporate this and I saw your PRs for the templates, thanks!
