Copying the base-image to and running from RAM -- is a very useful feature that Linux distros [1] are tending to provide nowadays; I think our live-image should contain a boot option to facilitate this (if not make it the default).
This is nice for two reasons, convenience and reliability.
On the topic of convenience, imagine a scenario where you want to reuse the same medium for multiple simultaneous installs. And re: reliability, this would allow for the hopeful elimination of "whoops, accidentally ran into / smacked my thumbdrive and the session is corrupted" lol
