Research Station can't form

Expected Behavior

Research Station can form, replacing some of the back casings with the required hatches, etc.

Actual Behavior

It can't—it requires a maintenance hatch, reception hatch, and energy hatch, but there are no places to put them. The back area also has the "must use this block" thing on top of allowing the other cases/hatches, rendering the multiblock impossible to form.

Steps to Reproduce

1. try to build research station
2. fail
3. check JEI
4. "wait, where do I put the hatches—"
5. spontaneously combust

why is everything in 1.21 broken
