Affected version:
jupyterlab-tensorboard-pro 4.0.0
jupyterhub 4.1.5
jupyterlab 4.1.8

different tensorflow-versions tested, both affected:

  • tensorflow 2.14.1 and tensorboard 2.14.1
  • tensorflow 2.12.0 and tensorboard 2.12.3

Error:
When trying to open Tensorboard I get the tensorboard screen with the message "Data could not be loaded. The TensorBoard server may be down or inaccessible."

grafik

In the logfiles I get the following warning/error:
[D 2024-07-23 09:51:54.192 ServerApp] Not accepting cookie auth on GET /user/username/tensorboard_pro/1/data/runs: '_xsrf' argument missing from GET

And not directly related:

[W 2024-07-23 10:09:47.953 ServerApp] A `_jupyter_server_extension_points` function was not found in jupyterlab_tensorboard_pro. Instead, a `_jupyter_server_extension_paths` function was found and will be used for now. This function name will be deprecated in future releases of Jupyter Server.

Expected behaviour:
Tensorboard data gets displayed. no _xsrf errors in log.

Temporary Fix
As a temporary workaround I use c.ServerApp.disable_check_xsrf = True in jupyter server config.
But that disables all xsrf checks...
