Can't add multiple symbols in symbols layout

To Reproduce
Go to settings
Advanced settings
Customize symbols and number layouts
Symbols
Add additional symbols to a line with a space between each symbol
Save
Hold the letter corresponding to the line you added to

Expected behavior
All listed symbols popup to choose from

Only first symbol shows up

App version
2.3

Device:

• Model: Sony xperia 1 iii
• OS: Android 13 (stock but rooted)

If I just change one symbol it changes as expected so I believe that means the priority is correct but it's entirely possible I screwed something up in my settings so I could use some advice on that because I'm pretty sure this worked before.
