The app is near perfect so far IMO. My only annoyance is the look of the app icon is so much more dated than the rest of my apps.

I have uploaded my app drawer to demonstrate how dated it looks in comparison.

I have added an example of an app icon that would scale well with different app icon shapes (circle vs square vs squircle shaped icons) and also looks more modern.

Low priority for sure but it would be a nice quality of life change.

Thanks for hearing me out. I'm sure I'm not the only one with this on my wishlist. It always a good thing when the app icon is the only complaint I have.

Edit: added another app icon idea

I feel the same. The app icon can definitely get a revamp as you suggested it can go more like newpipe based colors. Or add another 'P' to the newpipe icon, meaning PipePipe

Thank you! I made some modifications based on your design, and the visual effect has indeed improved.

Are there any plans to add alternate icon colors? I really like the old deep crimson colored icon and this new pink one feels off for me. Maybe add other colors with darker/lighter variations as well?

Well I'm still thinking about this. We are still in beta, which means it is not the final decision. Changing logo is risky, so we do need more different opinions.

I must admit, the more I think about it, I think I like the red logo that I made more than the pink one. The red logo suits the UI of the app more -given red is the predominant colour of the app.

I think the old dark red is still the safest option.
Even if we change the color, it won't be red since it strengthen the feeling that we are a fork of NewPipe - we are NOT.

Another approach is to preserve the old icon but provide themed icon support (as mentioned in #626 )

I think having it the old burgandy colour but with the new design would look decent as well. Having it themable (in terms of icon shape and colour) with the new design is not a bad option as well but I imagine would require more work.

Attached with the burgandy colour.

Maybe we could have for example a community poll about this?

I think it looks pretty good in that burgandy colour. I think the icon on the test apk looks a bit off due to the lack of contrast between the logo and the background. The burgandy gives a good contrast.

The new pink icon has kinda grown on me and defs matches my icons better than the old one. I'm happy with the new design language. The burgandy version seems to be popular. I personally am not fussed which one we end up with. The pink icon does look at odds with the red UI of the app though. Maybe changing the UI colour to match the icon colour (whichever we end up with) in future would be a nice design details.
