Packages for Linux Distros #14
Comments
Yeah I haven't looked into it much. Mainly because I feel like the whole binding could use a bit more stability(things change pretty fast) and also because I have no idea how hard it is to get one set up. If you want to look up what it entails for me and let me know what I have to do for arch I would be happy to get it set up. Then we could go from there to apt and yum, and I think that would cover pretty much all major distros. |
I've created a package for Arch and uploaded it to the AUR. As for apt (.deb) and yum (.rpm), I've done a quick bit of googling and found some links that will hopefully be helpful: aptyum |
Thanks a ton for this! I was pretty busy today but I should have some time to check everything out tomorrow. I'll be able to give you some feedback then. One thing I would like to add is if you are fine with maintaining the Arch package then I would be happy to let you take care of that! I have enough to take care of as it is. :P |
No rush :) |
Just going to pop in here and say that I think I'm going to restart this repo with a different name to make things a little simpler. I don't know when, but it'll probably be soon. |
Okay, I'll make any necessary updates to the AUR pkgbuild whenever you do :) |
What happened with the Arch package? I can't find it in AUR. Is it no longer maintained? |
Not sure. I don't see any packages either, but DSFML-C is going away when DSFML 2.4 is released. I opened an issue for DSFML for this so it doesn't get left through the cracks for the next release. |
Sorry about that, I stopped maintaining this package when Arch did the AUR 4 to AUR 5 migration. The old package is archived here: https://github.com/aur-archive/dsfml-c-git Anyone else is welcome to put it back up on the modern AUR and take over maintenance |
I don't have experience with other distros, but I would be willing to help maintain a package in the AUR for Arch Linux! Let me know what you think.
As far as other distros go, having .deb and .rpm releases would probably be a good start; I'm not too sure how things are done outside of Arch though.
