I've run it against a laptop without issues (that I didn't deliberately cause), athough the safest method would be to use a VM.

John Hammond collaborated with Network Chuck on Youtube to produce a video demonstrating how to set up a testing environment and run the exploit using VirtualBox.

As long as you follow instructions and run John Hammond's source code then you should be fine
as it doesn't install any malicious code onto your system, but its always best to just spin up a VM
and try it from there.

@pavitra1129 I understand your pain. Yes you can do so BUT you are compelled to turn of the Windows defender off since the AV or WD could detect an outbound connection that the code make. Since you turning off your firewalls you have more chance to get affected by other malwares which could lead to problems. As everyone suggests try to use VM else you can use Linode trial. If you can't afford these you can try it on you host itself but make sure to turn on as soon as you done with your experiment/research.

No there is no harm for your System. As default it will only launch the calculator. As other users i recommend too to use vms to test out this Vulnerability. A video Guide for setup your Environment could be found on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ytqP1QvhUc. For fast setup of environments my fav tool is vagrant. With Vagrant you can easily setup multiple machines. And you dont have to configure them as much as you have to if you setup by yourself. https://learn.hashicorp.com/collections/vagrant/getting-started
