What is the behavior if a temperature sensor goes offline?

So I am tinkering with setting up some Open AirGradient devices and plan on using them as the sensors for BT. I would like to know however, what happens if there is an issue and they go offline for an extended period of time? Will BT just assume the last transmitted value is valid? What happens if this happens while the valve is open? Regardless of what currently happens, I see 2 reasonable options: 1) Simply disable BT control and revert to normal TRV behavior until the temperature sensor comes back online or 2) provide the option for a fallback sensor and just set it to the built in temp sensor. I could imagine option 2 maybe having some instabilities though. I can imagine setting up a template sensor to handle this, but having it built in would be nice.

Hi, I am also very interested in knowing what the fallback behavior is when the sensor is no longer available.
Couldn't there be an entry on this in the FAQ?

Afaik currently there is no specific fallback behavior, as in BT will simply stop adjusting/regulating, if the sensor fails. The last set offset or setpoint temperature will "stick". You can add your request for change of this in the existing issue #1383, then it probably will also be included in the FAQ in the near future (it's part of the "to add" list of known issues/questions)
