What's the point of the humidity sensor?

The integration asks for a humidity sensor but the value is not showing on the card and there is nothing mentioned in the docs. So what's the point?

Well, the point is showing it on the card, which it definitely does, at least when using the corresponding better thermostat lovelace card 😄

Yeah I was hoping for that but as I said it does not work. I setup the integration and add the configured device to the dashboard > no humidity.

That's exactly what brought me here, why would I need another integration card to support features of the first? If they depend on each other they should just be a single one or am I wrong?

You don't "need" another integration, but if you want some additional stuff being shown in the UI, it's recommended to use. There might be other UI integrations supporting the humidity feature too, if that's all you care about. The integration also works fine without our specific UI component.

Things are separated because that's how HACS works/defines add-ons, like either as integration or dashboard component, meaning that's not even our choice. If things being seperated is an issue to you, please provide your feedback there, within the HACS project.

Documention is only worth as much as ppl read it, and the more documention, the less likely someone will read it. Did you read all the documentation that's already there, like the README section I referred you to before? The configuration instructions on the website also probably would have told you as much as my initial answer to your question:

Humidity sensor This is an optional field. For now, the humidity is only used to display it in the UI. In the future, it will be used to make a better calculation of the temperature or set it up to a feels-like temperature.

Thank you very much for the detailed explanation, much appreciated. Sorry if it sounded like I would not appreciate the work here, I just felt the documentation was pretty cluttered and got overwhelmed by three different places with two different components required. All I wanted was a climate for two radiator switched and people pointed me to this integration.
It took a while but I get it now. Thanks again for your help an patience.
