I think this could best be realized in a way, that ASCII compatible spelling is used throughout the website and in the background, but on the page for each player the headline is displayed as
NativePlayerName (AnglicisedName)
Not sure if the anglicised version should only be used for names that use other alphabets. For example 'Raphaël Lévy' doesn't really need to have 'Raphael Levy' in brackets, but for the Asian/Russian players just displaying the native spelling is not an option either.

I just added a few names in their native spelling to players. The entry is called 'natname'. So far I have only used it for names that use non-latin alphabets.
We should at some point discuss if we want to use the same entries for languages that use variations of the latin alphabet (like German :D). It probably makes sense to provide a raw latin spelling for search purposes and then display the real spelling at the top of the players page.
