Hi All!
It’s exciting to start our NASA Openscapes Champions Cohort and meet you all in Zoom! We introduced a lot of concepts and terms; we will explore them more together in the next sessions. Below is a light digest of Call 01, including a reminder about your Seaside Chat to think through your Pathway trailhead.
As a reminder of tasks for next time: (1) have your first ‘seaside chat’ with your team and discuss where are you now? What would you like to do towards migrating to the cloud? Is that what your team is going to do? (2) double check your team’s bio in the participants sheet.
With those two items, we will focus the first part of our next call on getting to know all of the teams. We are using this activity as a way to also discuss team culture more generally. The second half of the call will focus on data strategies for future us in the cloud.
We'll send each of you an invitation to Openscapes Slack. Here’s a short Slack orientation to help you get comfortable. The
2023-nasa-champions
channel is a private space to connect with each other and the NASA-Openscapes Mentors, and other community channels are to engage with folks from previous cohorts. Joining Slack is optional, another tool for you to experiment with.Have a good week,
Erin, Julie, Stef, and NASA Openscapes Mentors

Goals: We started working towards a common understanding of the Openscapes mindset and what your pathway forward looks like for your team.
Task: please see the Agenda doc (under Closing) for details and links

We will send calendar invites to an optional coworking time in weeks alternating with our Cohort Calls, starting after Call 02. You're always welcome to join any coworking session: talking, screensharing, and seeing how other people work is a big part of this transition to more open science.
