Hi all!

Thanks to NASA Openscapes Mentor Amy Steiker from NSIDC for leading the Earthdata Cloud Clinic! Want to review the live demo? The video is in our Cohort Google Drive folder, the Jupyter Notebook we worked with in the hub also exists as part of our NASA Earthdata Cloud Cookbook (Earthdata Cloud Clinic) and that's where you can see the commands she typed.

There were lots of questions asked and answered in our Agenda doc under Discussion and screenshares at the top of p11 and a few folks have already shared error-resolutions and tips in our Slack #2023-nasa-champions channel. That's a great place to ask questions or share your successes asynchronously.

Below is a light digest of Call 4 and details about your Pathways Presentation in our final Call next week. These are an informal chance to share your work-in-progress and get feedback.

Digest: Cohort Call 04 [ 2023-nasa-champions ]

Goals: We practiced accessing and subsetting NASA Earthdata in the cloud, hands-on from the browser via a JupyterHub managed by 2i2c. A brief time together to get hands-on experience and experiment.

Task: Details copied here from Agenda doc (under Closing, p13)

• Prepare your Pathways presentation

  • Have a Seaside Chat with your research group
  • Prepare to present your Pathway work-in-progress and Earthdata Cloud questions on our final call
    • Each group has 5 mins to share: (3 min present + 2 min Qs). 3 slides max if you create slides
    • You've been practicing this through the Reflections time on earlier Calls
    • Teams are encouraged to co-present

• Coworking (optional): June 8. 10-11:30 PT - last one

  • Please ask any questions during Coworking or on Slack. 
  • A chance to work on your own things socially & ask questions/ screenshare. We share what we're going to work on, and then work quietly and then check in at the end as well. We also make breakout rooms for Q&A if folks want to screenshare and talk things out.

• Very helpful, there's stuff I can do immediately. 
• Will this notebook work on our local machine? Can earthaccess work on our local machine to access data? 
• Are the Earthdata credentials persistent - within and between instances?
• Does the harmony subsetting service work with any cloud-archived NASA data collection, or only select ones?
• Xarray works with NETCDF files, I'm working with HDF files. Will this work?
