Can I start a discussion for a repo to which I do not belong? #571

This question is just a followup to Ligia's question about whether or not you need to belong to a repo to start a discussion. I suspect the answer is no, anyone can start a discussion on a public repo. And hopefully this discussion will confirm that! Since I asked this in the Q&A category, I believe your options (as a moderator) are:

As a moderator, I see all of those options are available to me. Also, based on my experiments, anyone (public) can see the discussions, but one must have a GitHub login in order to open a new discussion or add a comment. Which makes sense to me. Moderators can also add categories, although each discussion can only have one category tag. |
