Pitch

We've been talking about this for awhile, but a member just requested this again and thought i'd write it down.

We want to have the notion of a "bubble" or "sibling instances" that are closely aligned with us, somewhere between the local feed and the federated feed.

A few questions

  • account-wise vs. instance-wise: do individual people have their own bubbles, or does the instance?
  • complete vs. opportunistic: do we try and fetch the entire feed of the other instance? is that possible? or do we just make a filtered feed of posts that we are aware of from those instances.

Making this "real" would require some coordination, probably pulling upstream to glitch at least, in order to make it be something that e.g. both instances agree to, but doing it by just making additional filtered feeds wouldn't be so hard.

Motivation

More sense of community amongst small instances <3
