Despite the seeming simplicity of this question, asserting subClassOf is a very difficult problem in ontology engineering practice due to the lack of understanding on the formal semantics of the Web Ontology Language OWL. We would dare to say that understanding this simple task is probably the single one most important thing an ontology curator needs to know.
We should provide a detailed discussion on how to think of this most crucial of questions - covering the idea of an "extent", "sets" and giving a few practical tips on how to go about this. Understanding this is important not only for building ontologies, but also for curating mappings across ontologies.
