Going trough the list of changes in openEO API 1.2 to identify important items that (still) need to be covered in python client:

• New extensions: Federation Extension
  • -> Implement support for the Federation Extension #668
• Added property log_level to secondary web service, batch job and synchronous processing endpoints to indicate the minimum severity level that should be stored for logs. Logs: Add parameter for minimum severity openeo-api#329
  • -> support log_level in batch jobs (and related) #704
• New endpoint for metadata filters (queryables): /collections/{collection_id}/queryables. Also adds a new rel type to the collection links. Explicitly specify metadata filters for collections openeo-api#396
  • -> Support for collection "queryables" (metadata filters) #483
• Clarify that clients should (re-)request capabilities and discovery endpoints with token if available and supported. Clarify: Send token to discovery endpoints openeo-api#416
  • -> Clear capabilities cache on log in #254 and Add caching to Connection.list_collections() #383

Same exercise for openEO processes 2.0.0-rc.1:

• add_dimension: Added new dimension type geometry. Vector data cubes + processes openeo-processes#68
  • -> add_dimension: add support for type "geometry" #705
• load_collection and load_result/load_stac: Require at least one band if not set to null. Don't allow creation of empty bands array in load_collection (and other places) openeo-processes#372
• Deprecated GeometryCollections are not supported any longer. Get rid of GeometryCollection openeo-processes#389
  • -> stop allowing GeometryCollection  #706 . First step done: start showing warnings when using GeometryCollection from python client
• save_result: Clarified that the process always returns true (and otherwise throws). save_result (and save_model): Is the boolean return value useful at all? openeo-processes#334
  • -> DataCube.save_result returns DataCube instead of (wrapped) true #402 and Eliminate wrong assumptions about "terminal" nodes  #583

The remaining issue are less trivial to address but are not really deal breakers.
They have dedicated tickets and as such I don't think it's still useful to keep this ticket open
