Is there a correlation between traffic peaks and the age distribution of the population in a specific area?

I'm curious - what question(s) would finding a correlation here answer?

I think from our daily experience we already know, albeit qualitatively, that there are correlations for e.g. youth in school/university areas at peak school hours, working age going to office buildings at ~ 9 to 5 typically etc.

Or when you say population, do you mean 'residents'? Could you specify the question further?
