Backspace does not clear characters like ` - = [ ] \ ; ' , . /

Under the Keystroke History tab, when "Text mode (Backspace can delete text" is selected, entering any of the following ` - = [ ] \ ; ' , . / and then hitting backspace does not delete the character. Instead, the Backspace key is displayed alongside (If it's relevant, the US English keyboard layout was used). Please see gif.
