HTML layout issue with SVGs as brand logos in Safari

Safari/WebKit doesn't handle the width of resized SVGs as expected. No width is reserved in the parent element. Example:
https://whaynes.github.io/test-logo/frontmatter.html

Need to figure out if there is a CSS only fix that works for SVGs of any aspect ratio. If not, need to figure out how else to get the necessary information into the HTML.
