Every case will have a volunteer alias under which volunteers will operate. This begets familiarity and trust in the user by personalizing the triage team. When a new case is made, it should be assigned to one of O(10) aliases which will be displayed to and used by the volunteers working on the case.

Are going to use the same bandname npm module to create aliases? Or are we going to have more formal volunteer IDs?

We'll pick honest-sounding names as aliases.

This seems to look pretty good. Thoughts @ankitr?

Sure. I mean, they only need to be generated once.

We're currently doing this manually via Firebase.

This is still a task, because we want volunteers to scale and we should have 1 alias for every ~3 volunteers. Reopening and labeling not urgent.

We can't just have every volunteer be called "Copilot"?

Human names are regularly used to maximize the feeling of familiarity between the user and the volunteer. I think this is pretty important for our tool.

How would we display this name? Would we just append Jack Sparrow: to all of our outgoing messages? Also should users be aware that a volunteer has changed (e.g. the messages are now addressed as from Johnny Depp later on in the conversation)?

Depending on this, we can write a mailroom patch that just gives each volunteer an alias or each case a Copilot volunteer alias.

@ankitr clarified this morning: we will have a volunteer alias for each case, not each volunteer.
