Multi-Volume Works fall somewhere between Collections and Manifests. We didn't see any wireframes that specifically show MVWs. Is the "Catalog" view the way that MVWs will be supported?

Shaun, how are MVWs represented in the manifest? Is there something that would let us distinguish between a MVW and a collection? In the examples I've seen, the volumes are just individual manifests in a collection manifest. I'm working on collections in the design right now - I don't expect that Catalog will be the only place they are supported; I'm working on how the parent collection and sibling items might be available directly from the manifest window. Do you have MVW examples I can look at?

@jvine we have two different scenarios. One is a typical MVW that you describe, and here's an example manifest. I think these would be fine in the collection display, but in many cases, users would like to view the Table of Contents of all the volumes in a single place. I will have some examples to share for tomorrow's call. The other type of MVW is a Sammelband. This is a mixture of Canvases and Manifests. I can't seem to track down an example manifest at the moment, but will find one for tomorrow's call and ask one of my colleagues to follow up here.

Hmm... I just realized that we flatten Sammelbands (many are MVWs that were bound later) into a single volume because we aren't quite sure how best to model them in IIIF. There is a Cookbook placeholder, but nothing there yet.

Here is an example of a Multi-Volume Work in our catalog. We like how the UV displays this, but the current Mirador breaks on MVWs.

Our suggestion is that Mirador 3 render any Collection that has viewingHint: multi-part (v2) or behavior: multi-part (v3) the same way it renders Manifests. The ToC/index would allow users to browse all volumes and their respective tables of contents in the same Window.
