Create a mission statement for the project that explain what SciCat is about and its functionalities.
The objective should be short description that is useful when presenting the tool to facility and company managers.

Idea 1
SciCat is the metadata catalogue to help you manage the complete life cycle of your scientific data, including curation and publication. SciCat simplify data access for your users, manage permissions. It helps with data ownership and provenance. It is designed to easily integrate with existing IT infrastructure, and multiple identity management systems, data storage systems and other services.

SciCat is the metadata catalogue that offers you an easy way to manage the complete life cycle of your scientific data, including curation and publication. SciCat is the central hub where your users can easily find and their data. SciCat enforces access permissions while helping with data ownership and track their provenance. SciCat is designed to easily integrate with your existing IT infrastructure. It can interact with your identity management system, your data storage systems and other services present in your facility with minimal configuration and customization.

SciCat is the metadata catalogue designed to easily manage the complete FAIR life cycle of your scientific data. SciCat aims to be the central hub where all your users can easily enrich/curate, search and publish their data, while administrators effortlessly manage data ownership, data access and, also, maintain data provenance and FAIRness. SciCat easily integrates with your existing IT infrastructure leveraging various available functionalities or through community supported services.

So mission statement should possibly include the following:

  • FAIR definition
  • open source
  • make it easy to apply and use FAIR
  • ready path to data publication
  • Flexible and can integrate with almost any infrastructure

SciCat is the opensource scientific metadata catalogue, allowing you to easily find, access and examine your scientific datasets. Our flexible platform can be easily integrated into most workplace infrastructures allowing you to have a central platform for ingesting metadata directly from instruments, easy path to publishing and sharing data amongst collaborators. We aim to provide a platform that moves your organisation to a FAIR data culture and improves the reproducibility of your science.

It is the open source scientific metadata catalogue, design to be flexible and extensible and can be easily integrated into your workplace infrastructure . SciCat provides the right platform to leads your organisation to a FAIR data culture, where data sharing and collaboration is part of everybody mindset.
