I would like this feature too. Taking it a step further, what if lightning infill grew off of the "other" infill. For example, on a part with 10% grid infill, the lightning infill would be supported by the grid infill in addition to the outer wall (as it does today). Lightning would only be present near the top of the model. This would be the best of both infills. @WindArrow3d had a similar request #6586 |

@Admorei There, I uploaded a python script that does technically achieve the goal of combining multiple infill patterns. The latest one I uploaded should function fairly well. Feel free to try it out. |

I would really like to combind the verry tight infill lightning provides for the top layers with at least some normal infill that prevents the model from getting wobbly walls. I dont think that it is currently possible and it would probably not be that easy to implement because of the different infill lines intersecting themselves. But either having just lightning and one other infill combined as a new infill type or just beeing able to combind infills would probably be great.
At this point the only other option that goes vaguely in that direction is support cubic which in my opinion has way to much material in the upper parts of the model if you want a good base for the top layers.
Just using cubic infill and then a modifyer to switch to lightning or a tighter grid works too but on models with multiple top surfaces it gets tedius verry fast and is still inefficient.
I have no clue how one would implement such a thing, but I also dont know if it has ever been asked about or if it would be usefull.
