tvOS support planned? #18
Comments
The TV Controller is awful. Any gamepad that is supported could be used to control a pointer in the GUI section and then to play games?
Some games require Keyboard input: I have no idea of a quick fix for that.
Thanks for an amazing emulator!

Hi
This doesn't look good as there hasn't been any updates for a couple of years but nonetheless: With the ease of sideloading increasing continuously a common request I get is for spectrum and c64 emulators for tvOS. Many people played with these in their TVs once and they're looking to get closer to that feeling in their modern hardware and huge TVs (nostalgy is weird that way :D )
Are there plans for supporting tvOS at some point in the future? I understand tv controller is out of the question and it would require a keyboard and possibly mouse for actually using the emulators, but the GUI itself is currently 100% touch-based too.

AppleTV has supported controllers, keyboard and mouse for a while now. I mentioned the AppleTV controller was out of the question to begin with, as I understand it's a given this couldn't work other than for the most basic of input with it. I think a paired controller is a must and for many games a keyboard and even a mouse may be required. |
As you noted, development on Ready is currently stalled. Even when I get back to it, tvOS won't be my priority, but I'd gladly accept help in porting it. Ready supports game controllers supported on iOS (MfI, PS4, Xbox One), that support should port over to tvOS. For GUI it should support the tvOS Focus system, which already has support for controllers and the remote. Keyboard input could be done via Bluetooth keyboard and by adding a special mode to the iPad app so it works as a remote virtual keyboard. |
