The only Android music app that has similar UI for managing playlists is AIMP. But it's not open source. |

Yeah I was working toward a full featured Android app at one point but found I just don’t have the time/energy/enthusiasm for it. Anyway I’ve since personally dropped Android and become an iOS guy now so if anything it’d be an iPhone app from me, though I’m finding foobar2000 for iOS to be good enough for my use. |

Have you checked out Metro?

I assumed Tauon would come to Android first because Apple's closed ecosystem and developer fees make it harder to publish for iOS. Some smaller developers refuse to port their Android apps to iOS at all because of this. I was also going to mention Python frameworks like Kivy and BeeWare for cross-platform development. Have not looked into this much but they may help in porting Tauon to mobile devices.
Metro is basically a free version of Retro Player focused on Material Design and does not really feel like Tauon.
Downloaded AIMP on my phone and like it nearly as much as Tauon Music Box. It also has different themes in settings if you don't like the default look. Thanks for suggesting it. |

I love Tauon's desktop user interface, but I also listen to music files on my Android phone sometimes and looking for a similar mobile app that can play offline MP3 files, looks nice, no invasive ads and lets me easily sort my music like Tauon does.
I backed up my old CDs and bought music on Bandcamp that I frequently listen to offline. I still use Spotify to find new music and listen to other random songs, but its Local Files option shows all music files in one big playlist with no way to sort them by folder or genre.
The closest apps I can find are VLC Media Player and Musicolet. They do the job, but they have some odd UI choices, and playlists have to be managed separately to Tauon on my computer. We could make a Tauon-like app for Android with a similar interface to desktop, maybe with some menus changed to fit on smaller screens.
The developer has already done a great job at making Tauon desktop and I understand if they don't have the time/energy to maintain a separate Android app. If no one wants to do that a sync/export feature to move playlists from Tauon desktop to a different mobile music app like VLC playlists would still be awesome.
