Support more (ideally arbitrary) layouts

More layouts would be awesome, ideally specifiable in some sort of configuration.

Otherwise, something like the following screenshot would be awesome (ideally with number of columns specifiable on the second row).

Just took a look at the code. I think a step up in usability would be to allow users to profile some sort of json configuration to extend the current set of layouts where each custom layout is just an array of keystrokes that will give them what they want.

each currently supported layout can be converted into such right now as it is too into this configuration.
