When I first tried this app, I was really happy with how simple it was to add a subscription. However, adding the second subscription took me a minute because I was looking through the Main Menu for an add button.
I think a better way to introduce users to your app is to put a button on the "Feed" page that says "Go to subscriptions", and maybe to have a description like "Your feed will appear once you've added subscriptions. Go to the Subscription page to add some!"
This way, users don't get confused thinking they can normally add subscriptions from the "Feed" page, and it teaches them where to go to add the subscription. Having a big pill button that switches the view to Subscriptions would be ideal in my opinion.
Currently, it seems like this might be the place to add subscriptions:
