Currently researchers preferences are managed through the profile page. The latter code is made more complex due to the condition checks.
Moreover, the year is only relevant to preferences and not the user profile, which makes no sense when editing a user that has no researcher profile.
To enforce maximal modularity and code simplicity, researchers preferences should be accessible through another route.
