THREDDS (TDS) roadmap

Hello THREDDS users - below, please find the current develop "roadmap" for the TDS. You can also find the netCDF-Java roadmap here.
Note that no plans are final, development is always changing, and we welcome discussion, feedback, and contributions!

Version 4.6.x

We recently released the long-awaited TDS 5.0, and are excited to see how many users have already begun to use it! We plan to continue to support TDS 4.6 with security updates only through May 2022. We encourage those running instances of TDS 4.6.x to upgrade to 5.x at or prior to that time. For information on upgrading, see here.

Version 5.x

Our ongoing support for TDS 5.x, which will continue indefinitely, will include security updates, bug fixes, feature development, and user support. As always, community contributions are welcome!

The next stage of development for the TDS is the migration away from a monolithic structure to microservices; this will be a fundamentally new product and versioning will start over. While still in the planning stage, we are very excited to begin development! We welcome feedback on how you would like a reimagining of the TDS to look.
