From a recent troubleshooting session with a new macOS user:

  • Anaconda continues to cause issues not seen with miniforge. First it needed to be manually configured to have osx-arm64 among its subdirs, then there was a cryptic SSL error when trying to pip install. We ended up switching to miniforge.
  • numpy 1.22 was installed, but we need 1.23. This will be addressed by Pin more dependency versions #344.
